Koi fish has been a recurring symbol in my paintings throughout the years. Apart from being very beautiful, koi has a special place in many Eastern cultures and is considered to have a spiritual and symbolic meaning.
 
In most Eastern cultures, Tancho Koi symbolizes good luck. However, I've seen it in a completely different way. With its pure white body and the blood-red dot on the head, it looks like a lethally wounded innocent soul to me.
