Chrysalis - the hardened outer skin of the butterfly pupa protects the precious inner world during this dramatic transformation.
Even though the caterpillar's body has completely dissolved, the butterfly retains its memories throughout all its transformations.
This remarkable natural process closely resembles how human souls feel during major emotional and spiritual transformation. Sometimes, I feel a change so profound, as if I'm being dissolved on a cellular level, and I have no other option than to enclose myself in a 'chrysalis' and silently wait to emerge as something entirely different.
